Dental Implants
A missing tooth can affect far more than your smile. It can change how you chew, shift your bite, and make everyday moments feel a little less comfortable. Dental implants are designed to replace a missing tooth with something that looks, feels, and functions like the real thing. They’re secure, long-lasting, and help protect the bone underneath — something no other replacement option can do.
At Altima Yonge Eglinton Dental Centre, we take a calm, step-by-step approach. We’ll talk through your goals, take a close look at the area, and help you understand every option. If an implant is the right path, we’ll walk you through the full process so nothing feels rushed or confusing.
Why an implant might be needed
When a tooth is missing, the jawbone naturally begins to shrink over time. Implants act like an artificial root, keeping the bone strong and helping maintain your facial structure. They also protect nearby teeth from shifting, restore full chewing ability, and offer stability that removable options can’t match.
For many people, implants are the closest thing to getting their natural tooth back.
What happens during implant treatmentimplant treatment
Every case begins with digital imaging to assess the bone and surrounding tissues. If the area is healthy enough for an implant, a small titanium post is placed into the bone. As it heals, the bone naturally bonds to the post, creating a strong foundation.
After this healing period, we take precise scans to design the crown that will attach to the implant. Once the crown is secured, the new tooth looks natural, feels comfortable, and fits into your bite with ease.
